How does my patient begin scanning?
Once your patient has received their Aligner Kit and is ready to begin treatment, they will first need to download ProMonitoring™ to their smartphone from the App Store or Google Play Store.
After downloading, patients should activate their account by clicking the activation link sent to the email address on file. This email should be accessed from the same device the ProMonitoring™ app has been downloaded to.
When the ProMonitoring™ app has been activated, they can take their first scan. Patients will scan the traditional way if they started before 8/26/24 and will use ScanAssist if starting 8/26/24 or later.
Their first scan will be their baseline scan. A baseline scan appears on the timeline as a red box and is the initial baseline for their pre-treatment tooth position. ProMonitoring™ provides a tutorial on how to conduct each scan.
What is ScanAssist?
ScanAssist is an improved scan flow that will improve accuracy and reduce scan time and retakes. Any patient starting ProMonitoring after 8/26/24 will automatically be set up for this functionality if their device is compatible.
For existing patients, we recommend sticking with the existing process to avoid interrupting their routine. However, you'll be able to contact support to request a patient is given access to ScanAssist. If a patient changes phones mid-treatment or experiences issues with ScanAssist, please reach out to support.
ScanAssist Device Requirements
To use the previous scan version for a patient whose phone is not compatible with ScanAssist, navigate to the ProMonitoring™ App. After locating the intended patient profile:
- select the "Info" tab
- scroll to near the bottom of the page on the left side
- select the "Scan Process Version" button
- select between ScanAssist (v2) and the previous version (v1)

If your patient has a phone that does not fit in our ScanBox Pro (ex: Google Pixel), or an iPhone 17, please contact our support team
What is the ScanBox LED Adapter?
The ScanBox LED Adapter is a small device that increases the distance between the camera and teeth for clearer scans by connecting to the ScanBox before the tube, and by providing its own illumination when the device's light is blocked by the ScanBox edge.
The adapter addresses issues with blurry scans on some of the latest iPhone models. If the patient does not own one of the compatible phones, the adapter will not be necessary for taking scans during treatment.
For the full list of compatible devices and devices that require the adaptor, see iPhone 17 & Google Pixel Scanboxes.
If the patient has a compatible phone, but no adapter, please contact Pro Support.
To bypass using the LED adaptor, follow the instructions in the video below
How frequently should my patient scan?
You have the choice to set your preference for either a 7 or 14 day wear schedule. This can be adjusted on a case by case basis when necessary. You can safely select between these wear schedules, factoring in each patient’s unique needs, including oral health, age, and the complexity of tooth movement. If you do not update your preferences, we will default to a 14 day wear schedule.
When reviewing your patient's scans on the Monitoring Portal, green circles are “Gos” meaning the aligners are fitting well enough for the patient to move on.
A red box in the timeline signifies a “No-Go” wherein the patient is instructed to wear the aligners an additional 7 days.
