In Spring 2026, we unveiled a new treatment plan viewer. With this software, we’re building the foundation for innovative, in-demand features in the future.
This article will cover general controls in addition to the three primary panels:
General controls
The video below covers all the basics of moving the 3D model within the treatment plan viewer:
Important: The treatment plan viewer will only load when you are actively viewing the treatment plan. Make sure the browser tab with the treatment plan is open and visible.
- Make sure you're looking at the treatment plan on a computer and not a mobile device.
- Google Chrome is a good internet browser to use.
- Make sure you let 1 treatment plan load completely before opening a new tab.
IPR | Spaces | Overcorrection
.
Opening the IPR viewer dropdown will allow you to toggle both the IPR keys and the spacing indicators on and off. If you'd like to only see the amount of IPR, you can toggle to "spacing off". "Mid Treatment" being toggled on or off will not impact your view as this is a tool for treatment planning.
You will see small bubbles with numbers pointing to interproximal spaces. The colors and icons refer to IPR and the amount of spacing between the teeth
The white bubble in the image above with the IPR icon shows the amount of IPR as 0.3 mm.
The blue bubble in the image above shows the space between the teeth as 0.2 mm.
You will see the number in the blue bubble decrease as the treatment plan progresses and the space between the teeth closes. However, you'll notice that the white IPR bubble stays unchanged. This is to remind you of how much IPR you've completed.
A green bubble indicates that an open space was closed.
A green bar for the final few steps indicates a overcorrection. This is where collisions are intentionally created in the treatment plan to bring teeth together tightly. Overcorrection is not commonly used, but can be seen in some treatment plans at request.
Toolbar
The Toolbar on the top of the page has 4 tools:
- Visibility - Change the visibility of certain components of the 3D models.
- IPR - Turn IPR and tooth spacing labels on and off within the treatment plan viewer.
- Grid - Show, hide, and modify the measurement grid.
- Overview - A side panel that shows an overview of when and where IPR and attachments need to be completed within the treatment plan.
Learn how to use all 4 tools in the video below:
Treatment Overview Printout
You can access the Treatment Overview using the Overview button in the Toolbar. The overview is identical to the printed sheet provided in every patient’s aligner kit. Learn how to read the overview in the portal or as a printout in the video below:
Sidebar
The Sidebar is on the right side of the viewer and intuitively allows for quick reorientation of the 3D model. See the video on the various views below:
Stage slider
The Stage slider is at the bottom of the viewer and allows you to see the staging of your treatment plan. There are some extra features in the slider that you can learn about in the video below:
